3Good Set, But...  Aug 24, 2010
By Der Mensch
This is a good Lego set with lots of pieces and possibilities. However, the pieces are basic Lego pieces so the finished products are basic as well. This is ok for 4 or 5 year-olds, but my 7 year-old lost interest fairly quickly. A big drawback is that while there are many pictured things that can be make, there were only instructions to build 4 items: The Saturn V shown doesn't have an associated instruction card to help build it.

Went you spend $100 on a toy, you should be disapointed and I'm kind of disapointed. I wish I got my son a different Lego set.

5Endless Fun  May 28, 2009

We bought this set after we saw my son was interested in it after a visit to a relative's house.

He was only 3 at the time and this set contains MANY tiny pieces, so we kept its use to supervised playtime with myself to avoid any choking hazard issues. (Surely, a sacrifice for myself, as I am a closet lego geek.)

The set comes with quite an array of different shapes, sizes and colors as well as several cards full of sample ships you can build. The case it comes in is nice and strong with a locking top.

One thing I would like to see is some compartments in the case itself - we use ziplog baggies to keep various types of pieces in loosely related groups rather than spend lots of time sifting through one big pile of pieces.

My son is going on 6 and I am now absolutely amazed at his spaceship building prowess. After almost 3 years this set still keeps him busy building, rebuilding and "flying" all of his ships, stations and "space doggies" for hours on end.

Our almost 3 year old daughter has now picked it up as we build together -I think I can safely say this may be the best money we've spent on any toy in the house.

It breeds concentration, imagination and a fun group play time.
