Double Dice in the Classroom Apr 01, 2011
By G. Sims
"Husker"
We have been using double dice in my classroom for quite some time. This batch of 72 is a very good deal at $19.95! In addition to using the dice to teach probability, multiplication facts (multiply the two numbers together), addition (add them together), subtraction (subtract the smaller number from the larger one), fractions (small number is the numerator and the larger number is the denominator), and decimals (tenths and hundredths places)...
I also play a game with the dice called The Real Estate Game. Each student gets a Double Die and partners with someone else. One player has a red felt-tip marker and the other plays with a green marker. They get a sheet of grid paper and take turns rolling the dice. When they roll one number becomes the length and the other number becomes the width of a "property" they draw onto the grid paper. It has to be in a rectangle or square shape. Inside the shape, the write both their numbers that shows the area (like 3 x 4 = 12).
Players take turns doing this and the winner is the person who fills up the most 'square feet' on the grid paper. My students love playing this and don't even realize they are learning about geometry while playing. It is so much easier to teach perimeter and area after they have played this game for several months.
These dice are well made, have many uses, and I highly recommend them! A good price for a set and plenty to share with other teachers!

Nifty dice Jan 10, 2009
By Katrina B. These dice are pretty neat -- clear-ish plastic dice, each with a smaller die inside. Good for teaching kids about probability, fun to use with any board game in place of two standard six-sided dice, and fun for younger kids to just play with and enjoy.

THe possibiities are endless! Feb 13, 2011
By M. Garibaldi These are so much fun and motivating for kids. I'm a teacher on hiatus but still tutoring kids while my children are young. My students and I are finding great ways to use the dice to learn math facts and make basic games a bit more challenging. I also threw a couple in my purse for my 5- and 3-year-old to play with when we have to wait at an appointment. Perfect for classroom use, because there are tons of dice - enough to go around for all the students.

Great for middle school classroom Nov 02, 2010
By Joel S. Hayano We use these dice to play games in our classrooms. We can review math facts like times table, subtraction, etc. We use them to review fractions and decimals. The kids love them and look forward to playing with them. Use them once a week with 90 students and not one has come apart, broken, cracked or anything. Great learning tool.
too small Apr 13, 2012
By momof6 I should have listened to the other reviewers. The outer dice is to small to allow the inner dice to move freely. Great idea, but needs some tweaking.
