63 and still playing with legos Feb 25, 2009
By Caroline Taylor For my 63rd birthday I asked for the Duplo Town Set so I could play with it with my two year old granddaughter. I had previously purchased beginner sets for both of us but longed for a set to make a bigger layout with people and vehicles. The Town Set is great. There are over 200 pieces with lots of interesting pieces to make buildings, trees and even animals. I highly recommend it.

Great Duplo Set - No Storage Box Dec 06, 2009
By TJW I would rate this a 5 star if you are buying it during the year as an ongoing purchase and a 3 star if you are buying it as a Christmas / Birthday present simply because it is presented as several clear plastic bags of lego in the cardboard box that it is shipped in (complete with packing info stuch to the outside of the box). I normally dispair about the excess of packaging but in this case I would have preferred at least an internal cardboard box that is more exciting than the packing box and for a picture of the contents to not be on the outside of the box as it is sent. Needless to say my boys saw the box as it came through the post so this one won't be too much of a surprise.
In terms of the set itself:
- there is a great variety of basic shapes
- there are enough wheels / lego people to avoid arguments when my (3.5 year old) children are playing together.
- the basic nature of the blocks appears to encourage my children to be more imaginative than, say, the duplo house set that we also own. The house set has always been built into some form of dwelling but the creations using this set appear to be limitless.
The one down side if I had not made an additional purchase would have been the lack of base plates. I bought this set together with a pack of two large base plates and they have worked well together.

Lots of what we wanted Jun 06, 2011
By Incredimom` We recently purchased the Lego Duplo Town Set for my son's second birthday.
We love it because:
There are tons of blocks in this set. Plenty for several kids to play with at once.
It has lots of wheel bases. My boys LOVE to build vehicles and most sets only have one wheel base. This has eight and one of my kids' favorite things to do is link them up to make a train.
There are also many other interesting shapes to work with including curves, pieces with eyes on them, and lots of people.
This set works for a wide range of ages. We purchased this for our two year old, but our 6 and 8 year olds often join in the play. We also have a 9 month old and she loves to crawl amongst the big kids and chew on the blocks. The pieces are big enough that I don't need to worry about her choking.
Overall, it has been a huge hit!

Great Town Set! Jan 12, 2012
By scarletandgray This set contains 223 pieces, including 8 windows, 8 people (4 sets of "twins"), and 6 car bases (which my son promptly connected together to make a train!). It also has unique pieces for the tops of buildings. Overall, this is a great stand-alone set. FYI: this set does not come with a storage bin. We purchased an IRIS Lego 21 qt. container and it fits perfectly. Since the picture of the set is attached to the carboard box it arrived in, we cut out the picture, scanned it, and taped an enlarged copy on the lid of our new bin.
