My son is 3 years now and since 2 we started to acquire lego duplo products. We had about 3 basic 80-piece sets with small variations from each other. They all disappointed us (I mean myself as a big fan of lego since early age)since most of details were "useless" 2x2 bricks (the smallest square one). Out of these 3 sets came 1 medium platform - solid and stable unlike big square building plate which is thin. It was a dead end - we needed some booster which will actually work. So when I saw this item on amazon - I was delighted! These small to medium plates add really huge opportunities to any basic set of bricks - you can build multi-storied buildings! Villas, cottages, hospitals! Narrow and long ones are amazing - they also make reception desks and steps of a ladder. The ones of the same length but twice wider can be part of vehicles, hospital beds or sheds!
Of course, this is not a toy which can be played on its own. But added to usual set of bricks it works brilliantly! It is not available in Russia. The carton box of a package looked not usual for lego duplo - it was light gray and said smth on educational purpose of toy. Well, it was not lie! You will fail to educate future architect without this set!

This was exactly what my house-building daughter needed. More easy roofs and floors, without all the parts and people and such of yet another set. I wish I could by columns separately, too, for the perfect open-plan Duplo buildings. I love that she builds and rebuilds her own dollhouses, hospitals, schools, etc. with Duplo. There's so much more flexibility and creativity than if I bought sets for those.

These plates significantly increase the strength of the structures I build.
I recently discovered that these plates also fit well on top of Quatro (before I had been using the 2x2 Duplo pieces to do the transition.
This allows me to make large platforms, that are stronger than what I was building before.
These also work well as roofs, and bridges between structures.

Finally we can build 3-story buildings and there are no limits to our fantasy ;o) Would purchase it again and recommend to anybody who plans to start a lego duplo collection for their kids
