Excellent first tool set for Daddy's Little Helper Jan 04, 2008
By Jennifer Higgins My nearly 3-year-old daughter received this as a gift - toy tools were requested because of her interest in Daddy's real ones. This set does not disappoint. From her "Oh my gosh!" upon opening the gift to playing with it every day it has been a winner. Daddy is especially impressed too.
The pieces are sturdy. They come apart and hold together where they are supposed to. The tape measure only allows measuring up to 24 inches, but it retracts well from being pulled all the way out. The drill drills "holes" in the piece of "wood", and it works Forward and Backward to screw and un-screw the nuts and bolts. The handles come off the two screw drivers to allow the phillips and flat head to attach to the working drill, allowing another way to work the screws into and out of the "wood". The hammer is solid but light, so it works well on the plastic nails but can't hurt any more than any other toy if used against someone. ;) The wrench and pliers have yet to see much use, but both seem like they will hold up to the use. The tool belt can't tighten enough to stay on my daughter's skinny waist, so it is sitting in the tool box waiting for another day. However, we fit all the pieces nicely onto it when trying it out the first day. The case itself is another sturdy piece. It holds all the pieces with extra room (we took the white plastic packaging out so all the pieces are tossed in there together).
This is a very inclusive set of tools for younger kids - boys or girls. I can see it being interesting up to at least age 5. Overall, a very good bet for a toddler/preschooler tool set.

*****5 Stars***** May 07, 2007
By L. Miller I purchased this for my daughter's 3rd Birthday. She loves helping daddy around the house from using a screw driver or measuring tape, she's right there by his side. We thought it would be a great for her to have her own tool kit and tool belt. This toy was such a hit, she absolutely loves it! It has all the essential tools, from hammer, to screw drivers, drill, measuring tape and more. The case is a generous size and everything included is very durable, nothing cheap here. We definitely made the right choice with this selection and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a tool kit for their child, grandchild, etc....you can't go wrong with this one!!!!

Extremely disappointed Jan 11, 2010
By Amazon Addict I will admit that all in all, my 4 year old really enjoys using this toy. However, that said, it is important to note it's (rather large) shortcomings.
The tool belt will NOT stay on. My little guy is not overweight, but the tool belt has fallen off so frequently that he won't even wear it anymore. This is the whole reason this set was bought, as he LOVES tool belts.
The drill was broken almost as soon as we got it out of the (very nice hard plastic) case. The bit won't spin, but the motor makes a sound as if it should be spinning. It's like something is broken on the inside.
My little guy has more amusement in carrying around the plastic case this all arrived in - and not the tool case, but the weak plastic pieces it's held together in that you would normally throw away - than wearing the tool belt. Pass this one up and get some wooden tools, they hold up much better. I thought this was a deal, unfortunately I was wrong.

A Good Buy. Dec 27, 2007
By Annabelle V I bought this for my 3 yr old brother as his Christmas gift and he loved it. The tape measurer and hammer were his favorites until we put the batteries into the drill. The kit is realistic looking, fun, and not over-priced. The plastic seems sturdy enough.
My only complaints would be that the drill bit does come off easily, and after the 1st day the tape measurer broke (the tape might've been jerked out of its container though). The tool belt is made of a pliable plastic but I kind of expected it to be more pleather-ish. Also the black clasps on the case fell off but I dont know if it's supposed to do that. Other then that, I think it's a good buy and would recommend it.

Fun little set Dec 27, 2009
By Big C I bought this for my nephew for Christmas. He just turned 3, and out of all the toys at the family dinner, this was the one he was playing with the most. It's fun and easy to get at, and besides getting the batteries in the drill, no assembly required.
The tools themselves are what you expect. The case really isn't all too fancy and I can see them all just being tossed in there at some point without any distinct place, because the holders for each of the tools is pretty flimsy.
Overall I really like it, but the reason why I got it was that it was a "tool belt" and that was the one thing I was not very happy with. The belt itself is plastic, and does not stay clipped together well for a 3 year old on the move. It's a cheap plastic belt basically, and that's why I wouldn't really recommend this for other folks.
If you just want a fun little tool set with a box to put em in, go for it. If you're looking for a nice little toolbelt, look elsewhere.
