this product is great for home use. it does take awhile to heat up, but is awesome. i use generic lamination pouches with it and the 5mil works better than the 3 mil samples it comes with. i'm using it to laminate letter size pages. Bible studies that i print on the computer, and then laminate so i can use in my hot tub. it works terrific! i've also made bookmarks using letter size pouches, and have put 3 hole punches so i can put lessons in a binder. the bookmarks and 3 hole punches work great and are waterproof, as long as the cuts and holes are in the lamination part of the pouch only, and not on the paper. so i cut the paper before i laminate it so i have room to 3-hole punch or cut into bookmarks. for the bookmarks though i had to round the corners as they were very sharp. this is an awesome product. it's slow, so i wouldn't recommend if you have high volume or little patience.

Why pay to get projects laminated? Sep 29, 2009

We bought this laminator for a project I was working on for our toddler. I called a couple office supply stores and it was going to cost over Twenty dollars to laminate the project. I opted to purchase the laminator for just over the cost of this 1 project. I have never laminated anything and I was impressed. Without reading the instructions I was able to laminate my project. It was a blast. Now I can't imagine not owning a laminator. It is great for our daughter. I have also used it to create items (tic-tac-toe games, flowcharts, door signs, calendars, etc. ) that can be used with a dry erase marker. This is cost-effective (saving ink, paper, and time of printing and reprinting) and is good for our environment. I have also laminated pictures without problem. I don't know why for home use you would need anything fancier (more expensive) than this laminator.

If you have small children and you plan to use all kinds of flash cards, even decks of cards, and photos, you will surely want to buy one of these laminators. The price is fair, the results are great, and you can be as creative as you want in placing photos, cards, certificates, your child's work, and any other mementos into the thermal laminating pouch, and after warming up the unit, carefully slip it through the opening on the laminator, and Voila! You can laminate business cards, bank IDs, personal documents, recipe cards or sheets, your child's art work (unless of course it's on canvas), or is 3-dimensional.
Professionally, I have used gigantic, expensive and humongous laminating machines for work-related items; but that was work-related. However, for anything measuring up to 8.5" by 11", this will do the job well. You will be able to laminate cardstock, if you are creating flash cards; cardstock has a paper weight of 64 plus.
No more worrying about your little one's fingerprints, nose prints, or sticky fingers; these laminating pouches, when thermally adhered, will last a long time. Works perfectly and looks professional Aug 09, 2011

I am a pediatric occupational therapist and work with students who have sensory activities and movement breaks built into their school days. I purchased this laminator to be able to work from home to laminate picture cards of different exercises and activities for the students to choose from during their breaks. This laminator works perfectly! The finish looks just as professional as when I used to use the huge laminator at one of my schools. For anything 8.5x11" or smaller, it is the perfect solution. I even accidentally left it on overnight and it did not damage the surface of my desk on which it was sitting. Highly recommend.
