the concept is awesome, the design is poor Jul 23, 2008
By GoldNER The letter squares are cardboard and they are extremely hard to pull off the board. After a few times of pulling the letters in and out of their spaces, I noticed the edges on the square pieces started to pull apart.
The over all concept is really neat but the design is poor and hard for little kids to use
I recommend sticking with the books until this gets redesigned because it will not last long under normal use.

Fun educational addtion to Tag, just not that durable Jan 01, 2009
By Vanessa This is another great addition to the Tag system. It helps to keep their drive for learning and fun to go full speed, and it shows. The only problem is the quality of the letters. I think this would've been better if they were plastic. First they are hard to get out, and second they will start to fall apart overtime. This is really something I would recommend sitting down, and helping your child to spell words. When I use this with my son, I pop the letters out of their square just a little bit so he doesn't get frustrated. I hope someone from Leapfrog see's the complaints about getting these letters out and changes them. Other than the letters I still think it one extra tool to helping your child learn to read. It helps those that don't know all their letters yet, and encourages those that do know their letters to want to put those letters together to make words.

Same as throwing your money in a trash can. Aug 12, 2008

The idea of this game is really good. I believe its educational intent is good. However it does not last 1 day. The cardboad-made pieces are too hard to come out. Some of them tear apart on the second atempt. My 4yo daughter did hurt her fingers badly trying to remove the blocks. I won't let her play anymore, and the board goes to the trash before tear her fingers apart. Leapfrog should have done better on that.

Fun way to learn spelling Jul 30, 2009

"seeking change"
I bought a Tag a few months ago along with a few books and instantly fell in love with it. I have a four and a half year old boy and he loves books, but it is hard to get him to practice the alphabet or spell words. The games in the books really help engage him as they teach. I recently bought this board and it is every bit as fun as the books. There are neat games that help him with sounds and with spelling and it really engages him.
This board looks as if it could get wrecked pretty easily, but I made a choice to not let my son use the Tag or the books by himself. I keep them out of reach and he only uses them when I am there. I see these as learning toys and I believe that he needs parental involvement to get the most out of them. For that reason, this board will last a long time for me. If you are in a situation where your child does well on their own with the Tag, this board may have a shorter lifespan. It is a pretty neat learning tool though, and may be worth it anyway.

Terrible design, cheap quality, Leapfrog messed up on this one! Oct 28, 2010
By 3KiddosMom We are huge Leapfrog fans, we have most of their toys, videos, First LeapPad, 2 Leapsters, 2 Tag systems, and lots of Tag books. All have been excellent in quality and performance. All have been valuable learning tools and lots of fun. However, this one is a big letdown. I am shocked that LeapFrog actually made this product. The letters are impossible to pull out. My kids can't do it, and even though I can, it isn't easy and it hurts my fingers! By the time you get the letters out, the Tag pen shuts off and wants to start over with a new word, so all the letters you got out are useless. It is absolutely ridiculous. The letters are also very cheap and not durable. The cardboard starts to pull apart. Terrible design!
