5Great toy!  May 21, 2006
By S. Leigh Whitaker "GadgetLover"
My daughter got this for her birthday (3 years old). Even though she is not old enough yet to really count the money she has had a blast "ringing things up" on the scanner and paying with the credit card. She also really likes the coin slot. When she puts the money in it tells her what the coin was. She has done this over and over again. She is also having fun going around the house collecting items in her shopping cart and then ringing them up.

I can see this being a toy she will play with for many years. It has math games that seem like they will be fun and educational. Very nice, oh, and my dad observed that the coin slot works with real coins too!

The negatives... The drawer shoots out quickly and the plastic coins tend to slosh out. Also the weighing tray comes off easily. I'm going to put that away till my daughter gets a little older.

Overall- a great toy!

5Best toy register I've seen!  Dec 01, 2006
By M. Whitmore
I got this cash register for my daughter when she started learning about money at school. She is 8 now and still loves playing "store" with her 5 yr. old brother. We've had it well over a year and haven't even had to replace batteries yet. It is durable and fun. The electronic voice is very easy to understand and all the buttons function as they should. I highly recommend this toy.

5Fun and Learning  Jul 02, 2006
By Two Boys and a Girl
Bought this for my 5 year old. Both he and my 7 year old have enjoyed playing with it. They especially like the silly things it does, like sometimes telling them their credit card has been declined, etc. Seems well constructed and has some good learning games, too.

5This one's worth it  Dec 30, 2007
By Kendra
Unfortunately, I wasted a little bit (or more) of money this holiday season. I'm glad to say that this particular toy was absolutely NOT a waste. I had the older model for my older kids, but got rid of that one when they outgrew it. Remembering how much they enjoyed playing with it (we even used it for our garage sale), I bought this one for my youngest daughter, who is four.

This is an excellent cash register! It comes with a lot of play money and provides hours of learning fun. Really, my daughter just loves playing store, scanning items, using her "Kroger Card" and the credit card. She enjoys hearing the machine say "Credit Approved" (or declined!), and she loves putting the coins in the coin slot and having the register recognize which coin it was.

This cash register has many more features than the older one (which I truly liked), and that adds to the play value, I suppose, especially for a younger child. There are some simple math games on this one, too, but the games are really geared to kids just a bit older than 4.

However, my daughter has only had this for 2 days and she has already started to grasp some money concepts that she didn't have before. We've gone over coin values and she's undertanding that the paper money has different values, as well-- although we really haven't begun to go over that. And, interestingly enough, she's asked about some of the figures on the bills and the coins. She's especially interested in Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln.

This is a great toy. And, as I mentioned before, it really does work as a cash register, as well. So, you can use it for simple sales such as garage sales, lemonade stands, etc.

2Not a good experience  Sep 01, 2007
By Mother of 2
This toy only comes w/coins and paper bills - nothing to scan w/the scanner, and nothing to weigh on the scale. I went to the company's website to see if a separate purchase was required, and nothing was listed. The directions were no help - they seem to imply that the items to scan come w/the unit. To top it off, the toy wouldn't respond to the buttons pressed. The instructions say to press the reset button when the unit acts up, which was strangely not installed anywhere on this toy. After fiddling w/it for awhile, we got the math games to work, but inconsistently, and the toy leaves no room for open ended, imaginative play if a child can't use the scanner or scale. The kids got bored really quickly w/just the number identification and math games. We were really looking for a toy w/more creative options.
