My daughter got this game for her third birthday, and it quickly became a family favorite. It is similar in concept to CandyLand. Players match colors to advance, and no reading skills are needed. Unlike CandyLand, players consistently move in only one direction. This makes for a significantly faster and less frustrating game. Additionally, this game is built to withstand young children. The large plastic peg fit down into the game board, so they're not easily knocked off the board. The board itself is thick, durable foam, as is the die. There are no flimsy cards or cardboard characters to get lost or destroyed.
The game is purely a game of chance, so a 3-year-old is as likely to win as Mom or Dad. That said, it's fast-paced enough that it's actually fun to sit down and play with young children.

We got this for our daughter's third birthday, and it has been an absolute slam dunk hit from the first game. It was easy for her to grasp the rules. There is no reading necessary, only color recognition. She can play it easily with her friends without adult help. we've gotten this as a gift for other friends her age, and it has always been well recieved. Another fantastic product from Lauri!

My almost 3 year old Grandson loved this game. Instead of moving to the color thrown on the dice, he always wanted to go to the color of his peg. Great game for learning colors! It was such FUN to play with him!

This is a great first board game for a young child. As in Candy Land, you advance your piece to the next square of a certain color -- but the neat twist is that the pieces are stackable, and if two players land on the same square, one gives the other a piggy-back ride. This got my whole family giggling (especially when the kids were carrying the grown-ups). At one point, all four of our pieces were stacked in one big tower. Another advantage over Candy Land is that game play is short (5 - 10 minutes) -- so it's well within a 3-year-old's attention span, and easy to squeeze in a game even on a busy day. One last perk is that my son enjoys taking apart & rebuilding the foam die, which is made of six interlocking squares. The peg board also offers a nice tactile component. The manufacturer's age range is 3 - 6. I would recommend this primarily for a 3 or 4 year old, but it is enough fun that an older child will enjoy playing it with a younger sibling.
