Great for sorting, patterning and visual discrimination play Sep 23, 2011
By Mia
"Kylie's Mommy"
I purchased this for my daughter who experiences Autism. I love that they teach her sorting, patternings and visual discrimination skills. It also works on color recognition, distinguishing between sizes and etc.
It is VERY IMPORTANT to purchase the bear counters that actually go with this product. Other brands DO NOT WORK. I know this as I originally purchased a set of bear counters that came with colored cups and not the actual same brand. I ended up placing another order and purchasing the ones intended for this product.
The reason for this is that the bears intended for these cards come in three different sizes (Papa, Mama and baby). Other brands only have one size, so while you could adapt them for use with the cards, you will not get the full use/value out of the cards and it may confuse your child.
If you want to add an additional therapy use for these, purchase large Child size "Tweezers" and have them use those to place the bears on the cards (this works fine motor muscles).
I would also recommend laminating the cards as if your child uses them often they will easily bend or tear.
(note: I also purchased the Bear Bingo set - I love that there are other things you can do with the bears)

Very durable cards Jun 05, 2011
By Christa These cards are pretty thick and very durable. I thought I would have to pull them out for my students' use, but I am able to leave them on the shelf with the counting bears and they do not get ripped. A couple of the cards got bent when the students tried to slide them back into the plastic storage sleeve, but they are still in good shape after a year's occasional use.

Too small Oct 17, 2011
By Suzanne McLean
I am a retired teacher and used the bears as a math teaching tool. These bears are too small for the three year old user. Younger siblings could choke on these. The ones I used in school were larger and easy to handle.
