5Washable Paint!!!  Jan 15, 2007
By some rules are meant to be broken "Rules"
When they say washable they mean it! My daughter has managed to get green paint on my oriental rug, leather sofa and of course all over her clothes. Each time I just used a wet cloth and it all came up - even on the oriental rug!

4Great With Melissa & Doug Easel , but Bottles are Very Small  Mar 03, 2008
By Robert Paterson
I bought these paints for use with the Melissa & Doug Deluxe Standing Easel & Companion Supply Set Bundle. They work just fine with the Melissa and Doug paper rolls, and my only criticism is that these little bottles don't last very long, or are at least not the ideal choice for a toddler who is using big brushes. Each little container might last at most three painting sessions, depending on if you use the paint "full strength" or watered down, and how much you pour into the plastic containers. Unless your child is using smaller brushes or you are unconcerned with how long the little bottles will last, I would recommend purchasing the much larger Blue Poster Paint Bottle and the other colors. These are also washable and 11.2 oz. each, whereas the Crayola paints are 2 oz. each.

Incidentally, I found that both the Crayola and Melissa & Doug paints wash out of clothes just fine as long as you do the following:

1. Run hot water over the stained area of clothing as soon as possible after your child's painting session in order to remove as much paint as possible.
2. Spray a pre-wash stain remover (i.e. Spray 'N Wash) on what's left of the paint stains immediately, rub the stain remover into the spot(s) and let soak in for at least an hour before washing.
3. If at all possible, wash the clothes immediately in hot water (if it won't ruin the fabric), after the stain remover has soaked in.

No guarantees for what I wrote above, but that process worked for me.

All in all, good fun - my son has a blast using these paints.

3Paint is great, packaging is awkward  May 31, 2011
By Amy Henry
First thing to know, these are very small two-ounce bottles. The price is right, but imagine how difficult it is to get the paint out of little tiny bottles. If they had a squeeze top, that'd help immmensely. But there's no clean or easy way to distribute the paint out of these containers.

I ended up using a tiny spoon to scoop out a glob of paint on to a paper plate. The colors are gorgeous, that's for sure! They also seemed to last a long time during play-thick enough not to spread but thin enough to be used extensively. My son had alot of fun, and the final product had a bit of texture to it that made it look nice framed (yes, I framed it...it looked like modern abstract art).

As far as the reviewer who complained about the staining on a white shirt...even with washable paints there's a chance that the paint won't come out all the way. It warns you of this on the label. Obviously, if something is of value, you're not going to have your kid paint in it. I just put one of my husband's old shirts over my son's shirt and that works fine as a smock. If he's wearing something really nice, I remove it and the risk entirely.

The paint washes off hands and brushes very easily.

2Non-washable paints  Apr 07, 2009
By twin with twins "twin with twins"
This ruined 2 pairs of my girls pants, lucky they had no shirts on. I tried washing multiple time and even washed them right away after they finished painting and now the pants are stained with paint.

5Fun paint! Washes out pretty easily! Great variety of colors!  Aug 13, 2010
By A. Marcroft
This is the second time I have purchased these paints. The first time I bought the six pack but I like the extra four colors (turquoise, white, brown and magenta) that come in this ten pack. The bottles are small (2 oz. each) but I find that the paints last a long time! Each time my boys paint I take a plate and squirt out about a 1/2 - 1 tbsp. of paint of each color and they go to town.

My boys are 2 and 4 and I don't worry with these paints. I let them paint on card stock (printer paper is okay too but I prefer thicker paper) on the kitchen table and if they spill it washes up easily (even if I don't wash it until later that day). Also I had a chance to test out the washable part with fabric this week! My four year old got it all over his long sleeves (of course they were white) and on his swim shirt (rash guard) and all of the paint came out. I was surprised that the red and purple came out of the white long sleeves just because I didn't notice it until a little bit later that day. Just remember to follow the directions: wash in HOT water with NO stain way or pre-spotter. I ran them both under the hot water and scrubbed them a little and all but a little bit came out. Then I threw them in the wash on HOT and wa-lah, clean clothes.

I love these paints and they are well worth the price. :) If you want bigger bottles try the Crayola 4ct Washable Fingerpaints Primary or Crayola 4ct Washable Fingerpaints Secondary. They look great too!
